Meet the makers—

Why Slow Season?

The name Slow Season came to me during a time of great uncertainty in my life. In that season, I turned to the quiet wisdom of nature, my local surroundings, and the subtle details of daily life that we so often rush past. By slowing down and observing the natural world, my creativity began to flourish. I started to notice the silent beauty that unfolds quietly and simply all around us.

I came to realize that slower seasons enter our lives for many reasons, lasting different lengths of time and arriving in varying degrees. Each one carries its own lessons and gifts.

I’m grateful to share with you a diverse collection of offerings—each inspired by nature and created by talented individuals. My hope is that, through these pieces, you’ll find comfort, ease, and a renewed appreciation for your own slow season.

ce that is both memorable and deeply satisfying.

with love, Sydney

Meet Botanical Shades

Botanical Shades FiberArts, situated on the Maine coast, is dedicated to producing distinctive, hand-dyed artisan yarns. The company utilizes exclusively natural, environmentally sustainable dyes, either sourced globally or cultivated in its own dye gardens. Each small batch is crafted from premium fibers and processed with care, employing only non-toxic mordants and plant-based soaps to preserve the yarn’s inherent qualities and aesthetic appeal. Botanical Shades FiberArts selects only colorfast natural dyes, ensuring that colors remain vibrant with appropriate maintenance. These yarns are particularly well-suited for knitting and crochet projects, offering exceptional results for discerning crafters. The yarns are sold at fiber shows and by mail order, not in stores.
